Time flies...

... even when life wasn’t particularly “fun” over the past months.

Dominated by writing my thesis December was the most un-Christmassy Christmas time I ever had. My plan to hand in the thesis before Christmas didn’t work out, so Christmas itself was spoilt, too. In January I had to cancel my long awaited trip to London. And that’s only to mention the biggest sacrifices… But to cut a long story short: despite high susceptibility to procrastination strategies, nerve-wracking perfectionism attacks and countless thoughts of starting all over, giving up or in – eventually I handed it in!

And while all less glorious and dreadful experiences during the final stage of writing my thesis will become pale and fade eventually – there are still a lot of wonderful things that happened. Some impressions...

A whiff of winter wonderland one day before Christmas.

Even when I had lot’s of un-Christmassy things on my mind – still I had a great time with family and friends.

Old friend - New Year

Hyunsun (my Korean friend from Ghana who works currently in France) visited me over New Year. The last time I saw her was in 2004! It was fantastic having her back – even when it only was for a couple of days.

Besides lots of catching up we spend New Year’s eve in Amsterdam.

I managed to get hold of a copy of the new Freshlyground CD!
Listening to it brings African sun into grey February days :-)

Weekend-trip to Frankfurt visiting friends.

The city where they build their skyscrapers according to the design of typical apple wine glasses. Have a close look...

Paulina, my godchild, turned 1!!!
(apparently an age when the wrapping is more interesting than the actual present)

Northern Lights – after a long abstinence from proper (non academic) books I red “Northern Lights” the first part of “His dark materials” by Philip Pullman. Totally fascinating!

The end of my studies is very close now.
Two more oral exams (probably in April) and it will be over and my plans don’t go much further than that.
For now everything seems possible – what a perspective :-)
