I have been to Amsterdam many times before – and every time I discover a new perspective of this vibrant city.
Here some impressions of the weekend:
It was my first time to ride a bike in Amsterdam! Definitively the best of all ways to get around the city!
Stroopwafels has always been my first choice when it comes to Dutch food ;-)
On one of the Saturday markets I tried freshly made ones… mmmmhh :-)
A very unexpected insight into the depth of (dutch?) women’s psyche: Saturday night I got involved in a discussion about toilet paper shopping (the usual topic that comes up when you are waiting for drinks at a bar). HE was trying to get other women’s opinion on buying toilet paper because SHE had the very clear standpoint that it’s one of the most embarrassing things to walk in the streets with a pack of toilet paper!?!? Never thought that this kind of trauma even existed!
Women of all cultures, I would be very interested to hear your opinion concerning this sensitive issue – in case it’s not too embarrassing - feel free to express your views on public toilet paper shopping :-)
Visited the Tropenmuseum and was totally captivated by the exhibition “diepe wildernis” – fascinating pictures by Marcelo Greco and Mark Nozeman.
I wonder if one day I will get out of Amsterdam Centraal Station and the HUGE construction side will be gone…

My theory about working on Saturdays...
Since the library is very empty and you know that almost everyone is taking a break from an exhausting week, the work that you get done on Saturdays feels twice as good as what you do on weekdays. In relation to the generally achieved progress your contribution reaches an unknown, but certainly very high proportion…
